Last weekend, Dreams Resorts & Spas had fun activities planned for their guests for one of our favorite holidays, Cinco de Mayo! Throughout Mexico and neighboring countries like the United States, Cinco de Mayo is an important celebration commemorating the Mexican army’s victory over France during the Franco-Mexican War in 1862. On this date, people celebrate Mexican culture and heritage and it’s no different at our resorts.

Dreams Resorts & Spas held nighttime performances of traditional Mexican dancing and music, tequila tastings, games by the pool and on the beach and served delicious Mexican food. Take a look at pictures from the event below. You can see more pictures on our Facebook pages.

We’ve had many romantic, beautiful and loving affairs at each of our resorts over the years. So many that the popular wedding style blog, Style Me Pretty recently featured a round up of some of the most gorgeous weddings at Dreams Resorts & Spas.

The first of Style Me Pretty’s favorite ceremonies was held at Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa and it was truly remarkable.  The resort took care of the every detail, from the flowers to rentals to arranging a dazzling ceremony that took place shortly before sunset.  Everything went smoothly, leaving the bride and groom to enjoy their special day.  Afterward, the couple had a “trash the dress” photo shoot in the irresistible Caribbean sea to complete the wedding experience of their dreams.

The second featured ceremony was held at Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa and was fun from the moment guests arrived – there was a “shoe check” at the entrance! The adorable couple, both teachers who met carpooling to their elementary school, had a beautiful ceremony that truly maximized the natural beauty of the location.  The ceremony featured elegant wooden tables and chairs with simple white and green accents that made this beach wedding unforgettably lovely.

The third favorite wedding was held at Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa and had a few interesting surprises.  The ceremony was held on the beach and the flowers and dresses highlighted the scene with splashes of yellow.  After a romantic ceremony, the couple celebrated with a Greek “Breaking of the Bread” ceremony – the winner of the larger half in a tug-of-loaf is destined to “wear the pants” in the marriage.  In this case, the groom won.  Once night fell, the couple led guests to the beach to light floating lanterns, which was a beautiful surprise, and a fitting conclusion to a wonderfully romantic evening.

The fourth and final of the featured weddings was held at Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa, a photographer’s favorite.  The gorgeous couple scheduled a day-after shoot to have a more relaxed day to collect a bunch of memorable photos from all around Tulum, Mexico.  They shared a day taking photographs on the beach, in local shops, at a traditional church and in a cenote filled with fish. The bride couldn’t resist trashing the dress once she saw the crystal clear water.  These wedding shots are beautiful –what an unforgettable day!

Our Month of Mayan Events Has Begun!

The year of the Maya is upon us and we’re celebrating! The Mayans predicted that on December 21, 2012 the world would be reborn and Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa, Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa, Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa and Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa have planned special events and activities focused around the Mayan culture for you. Learn to make chocolate, take a Mayan language class, watch a traditional Mayan show,  gaze at the stars and constellations as the Mayans did and more!

And the fun isn’t just for adults. The Explorer’s Club for kids have activities planned that are sure to be a hit with your kids.  They’ll have fun dressing up in costumes, making Mayan handicrafts and building sandcastles in the shape of Mayan temples.

The Nature & Jungle Tour at Dreams Tulum

About one month ago, the Explorer’s Club at Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa added a brand new, exciting hour-long activity to its program of offerings: the Nature & Jungle Tour. Each week, the Explorer’s Club kids don their safari outfits and explore the hotel grounds learning about all the different plants and animals they find. Signs around the hotel grounds explain the different flora and fauna in that area.  Plus, the Explorer’s Club leaders provide lots of fun facts about our resort’s residents. It’s a great time for all the kids, especially when some animals come walking or flying by!

Are you planning on traveling to Dreams Resorts & Spa this Halloween? Well, bring your costumes and get ready for a spooky time at any of our resorts.

Themed Halloween parties will begin early in the day next Wednesday for the Explorer’s Club.  Kids will carve pumpkins and have a Halloween Ball featuring a costume contest.  Then the kids will have the opportunity to trick or treat around the resort with an employee host.  What fun while on vacation on Halloween!

The Year of the Maya

The year of the Maya is here! The Maya was a very advanced culture, noted for its art and architecture, mathematical and astronomical systems and cuisine. They carved elaborate sculptures and reliefs, built sophisticated cities and temples, developed a highly accurate calendar, gazed at the stars in the observatories they constructed and utilized chocolate and corn in their food.

Since December 21, 2012 marks a special day for the Mayans – a day in which they believe the world would be reborn- Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa, Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa, Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa and Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa are celebrating with a month of Mayan events beginning Thanksgiving, November 22, 2012 and ending Friday, December 21, 2012.


Dreams Cancun: Every Monday at Dreams Cancun, listen to our Mayan story teller and gaze at the stars with high powered telescopes. On Tuesday, watch the Mayan torch show followed by the Mayan Show where the performers are dressed in traditional Mayan garb. Ever Wednesday, enjoy Mayan and Spanish language lessons and face painting. On Thursday, the kids in the Explorer’s Club make their own Mayan calendar and hunt for treasure. Friday, learn some traditional Mayan dances and Saturday, join us for a movie. Cap off your week of Mayan events on Sunday with a Mayan sandcastle contest.

Dreams Tulum: Experience the magic of the Maya at Dreams Tulum, adjacent to the gorgeous Mayan ruins of Tulum, with an exclusive tour of the city’s ruins every Monday and explore nearby cenotes, natural freshwater pools that are abundant in the Riviera Maya, every Tuesday. On Wednesdays, take park in our stargazing night and Mayan show. Enjoy Mayan rituals like the temazcal (a Mayan sauna) on Friday, compete in the sandcastle competition on Saturday and party at the Sunday beach party!

Dreams Riviera Cancun: At Dreams Riviera Cancun, discover the Mayan cuisine every Monday while you watch traditional Mayan dishes being made. On Tuesday, build a traditional Mayan hut and furniture. Every Wednesday, take part in a Mayan ceremony where a Mayan chaman conducts a tirual that will leave you filled with positive energy. Learn basic Mayan words and how to write them on Thursdays. Fridays, stargaze and view the vast solar system with our high tech telescopes. Saturday, play a Mayan ball game in the pool and finish off your week on Sunday with a Mayan show.

Dreams Puerto Aventuras: At Dreams Puerto Aventuras, take part in the special activities that include stargazing, Mayan shows, learning the Mayan number system and language, creating Mayan crafts, cooking Mayan dishes in a class. Kids get in on the fun as well creating Mayan costumes!
