Explorer’s Club for Kids and the Food and Beverage team at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa join forces to teach young guests about healthy habits in a unique and fun way. The new Organic Food Classes gives the children at the Explorer’s Club a chance to naturally grown vegetables and other kind of produce.

The classes are held next to our small orchard where tomatoes, peas, bananas, corn, mint and sunflower plants are organically grown! Parents are even invited to join the kids in a beautiful natural setting inside the Explorer’s Club outdoor hut to listen to our chef’s recommendations to create the best, colorful and tasty combinations of vegetables and other produce to add and improve their salads.

We are so proud to have such a talented and dedicated Food and Beverage team who help make this experience complete by serving delicious dressing, seasonings, garnishes and natural juices. Join us while you are staying with us and we hope you take home some helpful tips of how you can incorporate natural foods into your lifestyle.

The season of snorkeling with whale sharks is here and we are excited to share a recent first-hand experience with you! Guests of Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa just have a short walk to the beach to Solo Buceo dive center located on the property. After an hour boat ride offshore where the gentle giants hang out snorkelers dive in and swim with the whale sharks! This is a once in a lifetime experience that you don’t want to miss.

Read about how Gringation’s blogger Laura Winfree and her husband Jorge enjoyed the excursion with Nadia, Dreams Cancun’s e-concierge:

”When Jorge, my friend Nadia and I decided to swim with whale sharks this weekend, I was so excited but mostly nervous! I’d never snorkeled in more than 10 feet of water before, much less in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight. Or swimming alongside a 30-foot fish.

At 7 am Sunday morning, we made our way to the Solo Buceo dive center located at the beautiful Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa in the Hotel Zone. Our early-morning boat ride was much bumpier than I’d anticipated, and I realized it was my first time being so far away from shore! It was a scary but fascinating feeling.”

Check out the photos below taken by Laura and read more about their day on her blog post.

Gringation’s Whale Shark Tour Tips:

  1. Put on sunscreen before you leave the house, or bring bio sunscreen. I was too lazy to put sunscreen on before leaving the house, and our guide told us that once you’re on the boat, it’s bio sunscreen only. And today I’m paying the price. So much sunburn. Ow.
  2. Bring an underwater camera. In a way I was glad I didn’t have one because it was one less thing to worry about while I was swimming, but trust me, you’ll want those underwater photos.
  3. The boat ride is bumpy and uncomfortable (but worth it), so I wouldn’t recommend this tour unless you’re in decent physical condition.
  4. Sunglasses!
  5. Dramamine!

For additional information about snorkeling with whale sharks please contact our e-concierge, Nadia at Econcierge.drecu@dreamsresorts.com. Since she has experienced snorkeling with whale sharks she can share even more tips with you!

Not just the grownups enjoy fine dining at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa; the children at the Explorer’s Club recently enjoyed Gala Dinner! Our staff went above and beyond to make the kids feel special for an evening of dining at the resort’s Italian Restaurant, Portofino.

The special night started out by letting the children’s parents know what we were planning and asked them to bring them to the Explorer’s Club dressed up. Adding to their formal attire we gave out neck ties and hats for the boys and sparkling tiaras for the girls, making them feel like princes and princesses.

When the group of young guests arrived at the restaurant they received VIP treatment. They were greeted with a mocktail, non-alcoholic beverage served in a fancy glass, and then shown to their reserved table. Their table was set with elegant yet kid-friendly decorations helping to set the mood for the special Gala Dinner. A tasty three-course meal was prepared and served by our Food and Beverage Team. Check out photos from the evening on our facebook page.

We love creating wonderful memories for our young guests. If you are visiting with your little one soon be sure to check the activities and event calendar at the Explorer’s Club so you don’t miss out on anything!

Swimmers from around the world are getting ready to make a splash in the Caribbean Sea just off-shore of Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa. Tomorrow, June 23rd is “Por la Libre 2012”, The 7th International Marathon of Open Water Swimming and we are proud to be the host resort for this prestigious sporting event. Athletes will challenge themselves with a long distance swim from Cancun to Isla Mujures.

This open water race is one of the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims because of its pristine setting in the Caribbean Sea. It is also the only event where athletes can swim above the unique Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA). There are two distances for swimmers to choice from,  3K (1.86 miles) or the more challenging 10k (6.2 miles) course. Both race courses are in crystal-clear tropical waters but it can still be very  challenging for even elite swimmers due to occasional rough tides.  The race starts in Cancun and finishes in  Isla Mujures.

If you are visiting this weekend cheer on the athletes in this exciting race! Take a look photos from last year’s event.

Even though we’re constantly sharing activities, entertainment and recipes with you, we still think there might be a lot you don’t know about us. With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to tell you five lesser-known fun facts about Dreams Resorts & Spas.

Here it goes…

1. Dreams Punta Cana boasts one of the largest free form swimming pools in the Dominican Republic that winds from the lobby all the way down to the beach.

2. Dreams Los Cabos is working towards a greener and healthier planet by implementing the use of a desalinization plant, which reuses ocean water and allows the property to have an independent water supply from the city.

3. The Explorer’s Club at Dreams Tulum is Mayan themed. As kids enter the Mayan Temple they’ll be led into a world of adventure where daily activities are based around nature, science, exploration and creative arts.

4. Dreams Cancun is the only resort in Cancun to have a natural seawater lagoon with dolphins on site. Guests can swim with dolphins four times each day at 9 am, 10:30 am, noon and 1:30 pm.

5. Dreams Puerto Vallarta sits in a secluded cove on one of 40 beaches along Banderas Bay and offers 500 meters of private beach and crystal clear waters.
