Our Dreams Entertainment Team went above and beyond at all destinations this week for Valentine’s Day. Young guests enjoyed fun activities themed around the holiday at the Explorer’s Club while couples enjoyed romantic dinners on the beaches.

Part of the Valentine’s Day celebration at Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa included a ceremony inviting married couples to renew their wedding vows. We are overwhelmed by how much love our guests share for each other.  Forty couples with more than fifteen years of marriage were selected to renew their vows in our group ceremony held under the gazebo. A pastor of nearby Laguna de Nisibon church led the vow renewal ceremony and provided official certificates to the couples. After the ceremony everyone gathered in the lobby for a reception with champagne, wedding cake and a photo session to capture every moment. The celebration continued with a party on the beach including live music by singer Chris Blizzard.

Romantic touches were found all over the resort including special dinning selections at the restaurants. Our staff recognized the special couples who renewed their vows by including the number of years they have been married in their guest room decorations. We can’t wait to do this again next year with our guests again and hope that you will be a part of it too.

How do you usually spend your Memorial Day weekend? Packing up the family and heading to the shore, lake or mountains? Do you spend the weekend hosting bar-b-ques to entertain friends and family?

For me, Memorial Day has become a holiday of work—packing, hosting, driving, cleaning, etc. This year, I am taking a different approach. I am going away to be waited on hand and foot at Dreams Villamagna—no laundry, no cooking, no hours spent in the car.

Dreams Resorts & Spas are the perfect place to spend Memorial Day. You can relax beachside or poolside and not move a muscle. The kids can hang out with mom and dad or they can go meet some new friends in the Explorer’s Club for kids. Are you worried that it won’t feel like Memorial Day if you’re not stateside? No need to worry at Dreams, the resort goes above and beyond to celebrate this wonderful holiday. You may even forget that you are in Mexico or the Dominican Republic.

Here are some photos from last year’s celebration. This will definitely get you in a vacation frame of mind.

When I think of Mardi Gras, I immediately think of New Orleans and the large celebration that occurs in the city each year. However, New Orleans is not the only place to celebrate Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is celebrated around the world with many different traditions and rituals.

France: The French refer to their Mardi Gras as Carnaval and have numerous celebrations throughout the country. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the most popular Carnaval is the Nice Carnaval, a ten day long celebration including daily parades, concerts and street theater.

Brazil: Mardi Gras came to South America as a way to celebrate the beginning of the 40-day Lenten season. Today, Rio de Janeiro boasts one of the most lavish Mardi Gras celebrations in all the world. For four days and nights, people line the streets to view the spectacular parades.

Greece: The most prominent carnival celebration in Greece takes place in the city of Patras. The country of Greece also trades in the usual “Fat Tuesday” for “Burnt Thursday.” Burnt Thursday, celebrated ten days before Lent, is a time when Greeks indulge in grilled meats before religious fasting begins.

Italy: The romantic city of Venice is home to one of the liveliest Mardi Gras celebrations in Italy. For 10 days, Venetians wear festive masks and costumes to parade the streets before beginning the 40 day Lenten season of fasting and prayer.

Can you believe that the Winter Olympic Games are only two weeks away? Although Dreams Resorts & Spas are far from the alpine slopes, ice rings and snow covered trails, each of our properties get into the spirit of the winter games. We are in the midst of planning Olympic themed games and viewing parties that will feature decorations, themed food and the games broadcast live on a big screen. The medal count can get pretty heated!

What Olympic event are you most excited to see?
