The season of snorkeling with whale sharks is here and we are excited to share a recent first-hand experience with you! Guests of Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa just have a short walk to the beach to Solo Buceo dive center located on the property. After an hour boat ride offshore where the gentle giants hang out snorkelers dive in and swim with the whale sharks! This is a once in a lifetime experience that you don’t want to miss.

Read about how Gringation’s blogger Laura Winfree and her husband Jorge enjoyed the excursion with Nadia, Dreams Cancun’s e-concierge:

”When Jorge, my friend Nadia and I decided to swim with whale sharks this weekend, I was so excited but mostly nervous! I’d never snorkeled in more than 10 feet of water before, much less in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight. Or swimming alongside a 30-foot fish.

At 7 am Sunday morning, we made our way to the Solo Buceo dive center located at the beautiful Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa in the Hotel Zone. Our early-morning boat ride was much bumpier than I’d anticipated, and I realized it was my first time being so far away from shore! It was a scary but fascinating feeling.”

Check out the photos below taken by Laura and read more about their day on her blog post.

Gringation’s Whale Shark Tour Tips:

  1. Put on sunscreen before you leave the house, or bring bio sunscreen. I was too lazy to put sunscreen on before leaving the house, and our guide told us that once you’re on the boat, it’s bio sunscreen only. And today I’m paying the price. So much sunburn. Ow.
  2. Bring an underwater camera. In a way I was glad I didn’t have one because it was one less thing to worry about while I was swimming, but trust me, you’ll want those underwater photos.
  3. The boat ride is bumpy and uncomfortable (but worth it), so I wouldn’t recommend this tour unless you’re in decent physical condition.
  4. Sunglasses!
  5. Dramamine!

For additional information about snorkeling with whale sharks please contact our e-concierge, Nadia at Econcierge.drecu@dreamsresorts.com. Since she has experienced snorkeling with whale sharks she can share even more tips with you!

Not just the grownups enjoy fine dining at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa; the children at the Explorer’s Club recently enjoyed Gala Dinner! Our staff went above and beyond to make the kids feel special for an evening of dining at the resort’s Italian Restaurant, Portofino.

The special night started out by letting the children’s parents know what we were planning and asked them to bring them to the Explorer’s Club dressed up. Adding to their formal attire we gave out neck ties and hats for the boys and sparkling tiaras for the girls, making them feel like princes and princesses.

When the group of young guests arrived at the restaurant they received VIP treatment. They were greeted with a mocktail, non-alcoholic beverage served in a fancy glass, and then shown to their reserved table. Their table was set with elegant yet kid-friendly decorations helping to set the mood for the special Gala Dinner. A tasty three-course meal was prepared and served by our Food and Beverage Team. Check out photos from the evening on our facebook page.

We love creating wonderful memories for our young guests. If you are visiting with your little one soon be sure to check the activities and event calendar at the Explorer’s Club so you don’t miss out on anything!

As I learned when I visited a Dreams Resort & Spa for the first time, there are
a lot of reasons to spend a vacation there. I expected some of them,
beaches, comfy rooms, etc, but other features frankly surprised me. Here
are my four top reasons why I intend to visit another Dreams in the
very near future.

1. Luxury - Most of us only get a few weeks of vacation time a year, and
it’s important to get the most out of our time off. For many of us, that
means relaxing, detaching and even a little pampering. All of these key
travel points are found in abundance at Dreams Resorts & Spas. As soon as you
first arrive and are given a welcome glass of champagne, you know that
you’ve arrived. Every need and want is seen to and if you want to relax, I
can’t think of many places more suited for well-appointed down time. My
favorite spot at the Dreams Puerto Vallarta was in the beachside hammocks,
gently swaying along with the ocean breezes. The margaritas didn’t hurt
either.

2. Activities - Relaxing is great, but if you’re active like me there’s
only so much lounging you can do before cabin fever sets in. That’s why
every evening when the list of activities for the next day was released, I
was like a kid at Christmas waiting eagerly for the new things to try. Not
unlike a well-run cruise ship, Dreams puts together an extensive list of
fun and interesting things to do every day, from language lessons to sea
kayaking. There’s also an extensive program for kids, including the
Explorer’s Club and the resorts do a masterful job of coordinating
activities for children that are engaging and entertaining.

3. Food - I’ve been to other all-inclusive resorts, and at some the food
frankly suffered. At one in particular, every meal was a buffet and if you
wanted to eat at a premium restaurant, you had to pay extra. I wasn’t sure
what to expect at Dreams, but was thrilled to learn that all food,
everything, at Dreams is included. There’s a buffet at breakfast, but for
lunch and dinner you can choose from a wide variety of amazing restaurants
without having to make reservations. My favorite was Portofino, an Italian
themed restaurant that also seemed to be their most popular. Even with its
extreme popularity, I walked right in and didn’t have to wait before
enjoying an impressive and delicious meal. A small perk some guests may
not realize is that everything at the coffee shop is also included, so you
can get your fancy coffee and pastry fix if you need it.

4. X-Factor - There’s an x-factor in travel, an indefinable quality that
can’t be categorized or explained, but you know it when you feel it.
That’s how I felt while staying with Dreams; I just knew it was a place
for me and that I would absolutely return. Maybe it’s the mixture of
service, quality and commitment to guests’ needs, or maybe it was the
beautiful location. Most likely, it’s a combination of everything, all
contributing towards a feeling of happiness, contentment and knowing that
I was at the right place.
