Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana has continued to be proactive throughout this process and communicate with our guests and future guests about the steps the resort has taken to maintain the safety and wellness of our guests. At this time, we can report that there have been no new cases reported in the last 9 days, reconfirming all of our previous communications.
All of our guests are enjoying our facilities in a normal manner, and we continue to maintain all of our stringent hygiene and safety protocols. Recently we completed a series of tests given by an independent laboratory. Once again the health ministry has given us a clean bill of health.

At Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana, we place the safety and security of our guests as our highest priority. This philosophy is more than mere words. As reports of illness at the resort were recorded, we immediately intensified cleaning, sanitation and disinfecting protocols from our already stringent standards.
This past weekend, we invited the Ministry of Health and independent health and safety inspectors to evaluate conditions at Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana. We are pleased to inform you that these independent inspectors gave the resort a clean bill of health in all areas. More importantly, no new cases of illness have been reported in three days. An open letter to guests and future guests of Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana:

Dreams Palm Beach places the safety and security of its guests as its highest priority. We have in place numerous measures to reduce the spread of illness including stringent protocols for cleaning and disinfecting all areas. We also conduct regular inspections by independent laboratories to ensure food quality and safety; we routinely carry out numerous training programs on food safety and hygiene; and we also have on-site independent medical staff as just some of the protocols and procedures in place at resort.
Over the past two weeks, Health and Safety inspections were conducted by the Ministry of Health, at our behest, as well as by Crystal Americas Health inspectors (world renowned independent consultants in food safety and water hygiene). We are pleased to inform you that we were given a clean bill of health in all areas. All of our staff has recently undergone our bi-annual medical check-up resulting also in a clean bill of health.
As an extra added precaution, we are implementing the following action steps:
· Increased the levels of chlorine from 1.5 ppm to 3.00 ppm in all areas in the hotel including rooms and pools.
· Hand sanitizers in all service areas, at the entrance of the restaurants including back of the house.
· Fumigation in all areas with the product VIREX, which is a strong viral disinfectant
· Water served in hotel is all bottled (Santa Clara, Agua Alaska)
· Back wash to all our pools every two hours
· The water temperatures is over 54 degrees Celsius in all areas
· Disinfecting every 15 minutes of the serving utensils in the buffet.
· Disinfecting of the front desk counter after every Check-in and Check- out,
· Constant disinfecting of all counters in all bars in the hotel.
· All check-out rooms are 100% disinfected with VIREX
· All linens in the room are removed and washed daily
· All mayonnaise base sauces have been eliminated
· All pastry creams have been eliminated
· Sanitizing with VIREX of restaurant tables after every service

Thank-you very much for the very informative letter. It certainly puts me at ease personnally,as I will be arriving in a couple of weeks.It looks like a beautiful resort and I’m very excited to be going.All comments are very encouraging except those referring to the illness.I’m glad to see that you have taken all the precautions,that you have ,to make everyones vacation, a memorable one.
That is a great comfort for me. I am booked to go there March 11th…Dreams are doing what they can, travellers must also do their share…. thank you for the updates and please keep us updated.
Are all these precautions decreasing the illness counts????There is still posts coming in regarding the issue.
Are people still getting sick there? We are heading there in a few weeks and am concerned about the health of my family.

My wife and I went on a trip to the dreams resort in punta Cana from 2/28 – 3/5 . We went with the newengland supply group and everyone from our group ended up very sick. In fact there were people left behind because they were to sick to leave for there flights .Our rooms were not so great , we had to many water problems with all our rooms , we had no water at times to little water pressure
Will be travelling on the 13 of April 2010. Very interested in any new posts.

Glad to hear the hotel are trying to sort things out, am due to arrive on Weds 24th Feb. Have things started to improve yet with the amount of people being ill??

I can’t wait to get there, this will be our 4th trip to the Dominican. I understand all the concern about people getting ill, which would make it a very unpleasent trip. But we all have to take our own responsiblities in washing our hands. Precaution is to be taken where ever you go. Hand sanitizers……….use them.
I believe you are trying to do all that you can to minimize the spread of the illness. However your statment that there are NO NEW cases in the last 9 days is FALSE!!!!!!
we were there Feb 22- Mar 1 and my husband was in to see your onsite doctor and had to receive medical treatment just to be able to fly home.
Many people we spoke to around the hotel were sick for a portion of their vacations. Unfortunately they think it was a bad food experience and are not aware of the illness circulating at this and other Punta Cana Resorts.
Please tell me the proper way to report the illness as i am starting to get irritated when the resort keeps saying there are no new cases.
we spent alot of money to take this trip, we spent the whole time being extra careful cleaning EVERYTHING we touched with lysol and not eating much of the food…… and my husband still got sick.
We are disappointed in the whole experience that despite it is a beautiful resort we were not able to enjoy the experience due to the illness
I think that many people will post to a blog if they are more unhappy than happy……AND the percentage of the sick is probably not a majority. It would be best if ALL people posted on Trip Advisor to give a true picture of experiences …..good or bad. The ratings will tell all. This has hurt Dreams Palm Beach, but not everything is their fault. The market will decide in the end.
I’m currently at dreams palm beach and will be staying until sat. In preferred club. Where is wait staff at the beach. Very disappointed our vacation is starting this way. Rm 42**
