The Back-to-School Blues

It’s just about that time year of again—back-to-school time! And if your children are like most, they’re probably dreading the end of summer. For most kids, there is nothing better than spending a carefree summer in the sun, but when it begins to wind down, the blues set in.

Here at Dreams Resorts & Spas, we act as if it’s summer all year round! If your kids are experiencing the back-to-school blues, why not perk up their spirits by planning a trip over Thanksgiving or Christmas? This will certainly give them something to look forward to and make them excited for the upcoming months. We’ve even come up with a few ways to get your kids involved with planning the trip so they will be thrilled to begin the school year knowing a vacation is on the way!

Select a resort: If you’ve decided to spend the holidays at Dreams Resorts & Spas, why not have your children pick a particular resort. Send them to our website and ask them to choose three resorts they would like to visit and give you their reasons why.

Pick the activities: Children always love planning family activities. Have them select a few activities they’d like to do during your trip such as snorkeling, kayaking or jet skiing. If you’re staying at Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa, they can even swim with the Dolphins at Delphinus Dreams Cancun or choose a room that overlooks our private lagoon where the dolphins can often be seen frolicking and playing with one another. Another great option is to select a resort that participates in our Dreaming of Freedom Turtle Program, giving your children the once in a lifetime experience of releasing baby sea turtles back into their natural habitat.

Plan for the plane: Plane rides can be long and boring, especially for children. In the months leading up to your trip, have your children gather games, make iPod playlists and print out pages to color for the plane. Dreams Explorer’s Club Activity Center is an especially great place to visit for printable activities that will get kids ready for the trip!

Best of luck in the new school year and we hope to see your family soon!
