Swimmers from around the world are getting ready to make a splash in the Caribbean Sea just off-shore of Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa. Tomorrow, June 23^rd is “Por la Libre 2012”, The 7^th International Marathon of Open Water Swimming and we are proud to be the host resort for this prestigious sporting event. Athletes will challenge themselves with a long distance swim from Cancun to Isla Mujures.

This open water race is one of the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims because of its pristine setting in the Caribbean Sea. It is also the only event where athletes can swim above the unique Cancun Underwater Museum (MUSA). There are two distances for swimmers to choice from,  3K (1.86 miles) or the more challenging 10k (6.2 miles) course. Both race courses are in crystal-clear tropical waters but it can still be very  challenging for even elite swimmers due to occasional rough tides.  The race starts in Cancun and finishes in  Isla Mujures.
