At Dreams Resorts & Spas, we are overjoyed to witness and help our guests celebrate special milestones and events. We were proud to be a part of a very special engagement that took place at Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa on May 9, 2013.

The young and beautiful couple, Carissa Cutts and Marc Hlywiak, are both Cherry Hill, NJ natives and they were excited to go on their fourth trip to Cancun together. The group had never been to a Dreams Resort & Spa before, and they chose to stay at Dreams Cancun because of its fun-filled amenities (and Dolphinarium!), wide variety of restaurants and bars at the resort, its picturesque decor and its convenient location. Carissa, a Labor & Delivery nurse, and her now fiancé, Marc Hlywiak, a Local 401 iron-worker, decided to go on a romantic getaway with Marc’s brother and his girlfriend. Little did Carissa know that the man of her dreams would pop the question on this vacation.

On the night of Carissa and Marc’s engagement, Carissa was simply under the impression that the group would dress up, go to dinner and experience resort nightlife afterwards. Prior to dinner, both couples decided to take romantic beach pictures around the resort property. Carissa and Marc took beautiful pictures of Marc’s brother and his girlfriend on the resort beach, in the garden and in front of the gazebo.  When it came time for Carissa and Marc to take their turn, Marc walked Carissa to the wedding gazebo in front of the water at dusk. According to Carissa, Marc loves to kid around, and he joked around asking what she would think if he pretended to propose to her. Carissa didn’t realize that it was really happening, until he knelt down on one knee and pulled out a gorgeous diamond ring. This is what Carissa said when we asked her about her reaction:

“I was in complete shock for about five minutes. My first thought was, ‘Did you even ask my father?’ After catching my breath, I of course told him yes!”

After the proposal, the wonderful staff at Dreams Cancun prepared a lovely night for the newly-engaged couple. When the couples came back from a delicious dinner, Carissa and Marc came to find a bottle of fine champagne in their room. The group enjoyed the remainder of their time by swimming with the dolphins, going to the beach and pools, eating fine food and dancing away at night clubs. Carissa and Marc plan to tie the knot on May 9, 2015, on the two year anniversary of their engagement. They may even come back for a destination wedding or honeymoon… stay tuned!
