Lending a Helping Hand at Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa

At Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa our staff members are more than just co-workers, they’re family. When a fire destroyed the home of Luis Menendez, a dedicated member of the Dreams Punta Cana family since July 2013, the resort staff rallied to support him. A fundraiser was organized and staff donated money to help the family. Thanks to the generosity of Dreams Punta Cana’s staff, a new home was built for Mr. Menendez, his wife and three children.

We were so grateful to have been able to support our family at Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa by helping the Menendez family get back on their feet. Keep reading to see more photos of the Menendez family’s new home and to learn a little more about our family at Dreams Punta Cana.

Every Thursday, employees from Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana and guests alike participate in “Walk for a Good Cause.” Our group visits a local school in Cabeza De Toro, nearby to Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana, and bring lunch boxes to the children at the school.

These lunch boxes are specially prepared at Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana and contain items donated by the resort, local businesses and special treats that our guests contribute themselves.

Toy Drive at Dreams Puerto Aventuras

Throughout their stay, guests at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa get to experience Unlimited-Luxury® in every form from gourmet meals and unlimited premium beverages to 24-hour room services and live nightly entertainment. However, just a few miles down the road in the traditional Mayan community of San Juan de Dios, there are many children who aren’t so fortunate. This is our call to you to help us make a difference in the lives of these kids—all you have to do is leave a little room in your suitcase between the suntan lotion and swim trunks!

We are asking for all guests traveling to Dreams Puerto Aventuras to participate in our annual Toy Drive by bringing a new toy to donate (one that doesn’t require batteries) before April 30, 2014, or as it is known in Mexico, the Day of the Child. We will be delivering all received toys to the children in San Juan de Dios and, as you can see in the photos from last year’s Toy Drive, the joy these toys brings them is immeasurable.

San Juan de Dios, located near the archaeological site of Tulum, is truly a step back in time. The people are traditional in their Mayan beliefs and customs. They still retain the Mayan language and even participate in Mayan festivals that date back to more than a thousand years ago. About 350 children reside in this modest community, where the main source of income is artisanal honey production. Dreams Puerto Aventuras has this special honey available for sale within our gift shop in order to support this community.

We’re counting on our fans to help us make this year’s Toy Drive our best ever! Spread the word to any family or friends that might be taking a trip to Dreams Puerto Aventuras this spring and on social media as well using the hashtag #ToyDriveDPA. Dreams Puerto Vallarta Teams Up with Impulso de Aguila

At Dreams Resorts & Spas, we believe in the importance in giving back to our communities. That’s why Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa has teamed up with Impulso de Aguila, a non-profit organization located in Puerto Vallarta and dedicated to social assistance, to help the children and elderly of the region.

For Children’s Day on April 30th, Dreams Puerto Vallarta is gathering toys to be donated to children in the most underprivileged districts and towns in and around Puerto Vallarta.  We are requesting donations of toys that are:

  • New or used toys that have been gently used and remain in good condition (without batteries)
  • Books
  • Coloring books
  • Crayons, colored pencils and markers

The Concierge Desk will be accepting all toy donations until April 29th. Also, any guests who will be staying at the resort on April 30th are welcome to join the resort staff deliver the toys.

Dreams Puerto Vallarta is also collecting diapers or cash donations of $25 USD that will be used to purchasing diapers for seniors. Any guest who gives a cash donation will receive a certificate for their contribution.

Dreams Tulum Supports Passports with Purpose Annual Fundraiser

Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa donated a three-night stay prize for an annual fundraiser, Passports with Purpose.  The fundraiser is put on each year by travel bloggers trying to make a positive impact in the world. This year’s goal of Passports with Purpose is to build two libraries in Zambia with a program called Room to Read.  This year’s online charity event kicked off yesterday and will run until December 16th.   

We are happy to offer one of many fabulous prizes collected for Passports with Purpose.  When someone makes a tax deductible donation online for at least $10 to Room to Read they will get the chance to pick a prize and have the chance to win. This is a great cause to be a part of so please share this with your friends. Winners will be announced online December 23, 2011.

Dreams Huatulco Gives Back

Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa recently organized a charity toy drive for underprivileged children in Huatulaco. The resort collected over 12,000 toys which they delivered to local children and families on el Dia de los Reyes. Take a look at some of the priceless pictures from that day!
